The essence of urban construction is to realize the urbanization of people,the key of which lies in the citizenization of migrant workers.At present,the new-type urban construction has shifted from the period of high-speed advancement into high-quality advancement.How to better promote the citizenization of agricultural population transfer has been elevated to a new strategic height.Migrant workers are willing to stay in cities.They not only focus on obtaining urban household registration,but also creating a sense of belonging to the city,which derives from social protection that migrant workers receive in the city.A complete social protection system relies on the intervention of policies such as social services.It can prevent internal poverty and marginalization in migrant workers,laying a foundation for them to take root in cities.Moreover,it can make up for the shortage of reform of household registration system to meet all the needs of migrant workers,promoting them actually integrate into cities.This study will firstly sort out theoretical foundations related to social protection of migrant workers and their sense of urban belonging by literature research method,and then by using questionnaire survey method and empirical analysis method,have a descriptive statistical analysis in five dimensions of migrant workers social protection including employment protection,social insurance,public services,social interaction,psychology protection and sense of belonging to cities.After that this study will build models for regression analysis.Conclusions are drew as following:(1)The overall social protection situation for migrant workers is poor.There are major differences in gender and intergenerational differences.The level of social protection for female migrant workers and new-generation migrant workers is higher,while no significant differences in household registration factors.(2)The level of urban belonging of migrant workers is poor in general,and there are differences in gender,generation,and household registration.Female migrant workers,new-generation migrant workers,and registered rural migrant workers in Fujian Province whose sense of urban belonging is significantly higher than male migrant workers,older generation migrant workers,and rural migrant workers outside the province.(3)Social protection has different significant effects on the sense of belonging of rural migrant workers to cities in various dimensions.Social insurance,public services,social interaction,and psychological protection all have significant positive impact on the sense of urban belonging.It’s the same as whether receiving employment training in employment protection.Signing labor contract and monthly average income have little effect on it.(4)The sense of urban belonging of migrant workers has differences in intergenerational and household registration in social protection.Whether to participate in job training,the number of social insurance programs,whether to enjoy a housing provident fund,and whether to speak the local dialect,these four variables have a different impact on the sense of belonging to different generations of migrant workers.Whether to participate in job training,whether to enjoy a housing provident fund,whether to speak the local dialect and whether to have been discriminated against locally have different effects on the sense of belonging to different registered migrant workers.Based on the conclusions above,this thesis will propose five suggestions as follows,to improve the sense of urban belonging for migrant workers: establishing a sound coordination mechanism for labor relations,strengthening corporate social responsibility,improving social insurance policies,increasing social protection external support,optimizing the structure of financial transfer payments,deepening the equalization of public services,innovating community management models,improving the social capital accumulation of migrant workers,paying attention to psychological guidance of migrant workers as well as attaching importance to humanistic care and emotional communication.
