| Sun Cuo Community in Xiamen is a natural village formed by the single family name Sun.Yunlongyan,as a village temple,is the core of belief in Suncuo community,and the overlapping belief mode of traditional clan system and folk-belief has been completely preserved.The continuation of this belief pattern not only reflects the continuity of belief,but also highlights the importance of "authority".The continuation of the belief pattern cannot be separated from the support of the authority system.Therefore,to explore the specific composition of authority in the folk belief system is also an insurmountable important issue in the study of folk-belief and local society.Based on the above considerations,on the basis of the practice of the belief activities of Patriarch Huiying in Yunlongyan Palace in Sun Cuo,the constitution of authority is explored,and two authority systems of "symbolic authority" and "folk authority" are presented according to the different subjects.On the one hand,the elements of symbolic authority are discussed from the palace temple and the gods themselves.Interpreting the expression of symbolic authority in terms of ritual activities within a specific faith;The acquisition of authority through legitimacy.On the other hand,according to the different ways of participating in faith activities,local elites are divided into authoritative organizations,official elites,economic elites,cultural elites and special subjects in faith activities--"ritual experts" to discuss the composition of their authority respectively.On this basis,the following conclusions are drawn: first,the survival of primitive thinking is the source of the existence and growth of symbolic authority;Secondly,the accumulation of "symbolic capital",the economic relations formed in the "cultural network of power" on the basis of human relations,faith and face,is one of the important reasons for the acquisition of local elite authority.Third,local elites participate in community practice activities,the realization of "the will of public ownership" and the reaction force of the operation of faith activities are the inevitable elements of its recognition.In addition,in the process of gaining authority,local elites also exert certain influence on folk-belief activities and local society.Centering on the concrete manifestation of the local elite obtaining authority in Sun Cuo,this paper explores the mutually beneficial relationship between folk authority and folk-belief on the one hand,and summarizes the positive and negative influences of folk authority on community order on the other hand.Thus,the overall construction of authority in the folk-belief system in southern Fujian is presented,and the research on authority in the folk-belief system is enriched and deepened. |
