A Report On The E-C Translation Of Our Jungle Road To Tokyo-From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

This thesis takes Our Jungle Road to Tokyo as the object of translation practice task and takes the Skopos theory as the guide.Basing on its Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,translation techniques such as addition,omission,annotation,adjustment of word order are used to solve the typical problems,and provide some reference for the translation of similar military-themed texts.This thesis first introduces the development and definition of Skopos theory,explains that the purpose of translation determines the translation method and translation techniques chosen by the translator in the translation process,and elaborates on the three rules included in Skopos theory.In completing this translation task,through the Skopos rule,based on the informative function and vocative function of the text,the translator chooses the translation techniques of omission and combination to complete the translation;through the coherence rule,this translation report analyzes how the text achieves coherence in lexical,syntactic and textual level through the translation techniques of addition and subtraction;with the help of the fidelity rule,this translation report analyzes how the text can be translated faithfully through the translation techniques of annotation and direct translation.Finally,by studying the application of Skopos theory in translation practice,this thesis plays a certain role in expanding the dissemination of World War II military fiction in China,and verifies that Skopos rule can play a certain guiding role in the translation of military fiction,and hopefully can also provide reference for the Chinese translation of other military-themed texts.
