| The language service industry provides translation,localization,language support tools,and the education and training of talents,with translation being the core business.Spurred on by the effects of globalization and the advancement of Internet technology,the language service industry is in a period of change and its demand for talent is changing rapidly,making it necessary for the training of translation-related talents to be enriched and adjusted accordingly.Therefore,in order to investigate the current demand for translation talents in the language service industry as well as to evaluate if there are certain trends in current demand and what characteristics of the times it possesses,this report uses the job advertisements published on the official websites of the top 100 global language service providers(2021)and enterprise members of the Translators Association of China as a research subject.By classifying and coding recruitment information,and then using Excel and SPSS software to conduct frequency analysis,this study aims to analyze and summarize the types of talents and entry qualifications required by domestic and foreign language service providers based on their job advertisements.When analyzing the type of talents,the researcher concludes that the required talents could be classified into translation and interpreting talents,project management talents,quality management talents,technical support talents,and educational instruction talents after drawing on and improving the existing classifications of other scholars.When analyzing the entry qualifications,the researcher utilizes the knowledge,skills,abilities,and other characteristics model in human resource management to categorize job requirements into knowledge dimension,skill dimension,ability dimension,and other characteristics dimension with the intention of specifically analyzing the qualifications required for five types of jobs in these four dimensions.The data analysis results of this research report are expected to be of reference value in the following areas:(1)to help MTI students understand the current situation of the demand for the language service industry and improve their job-seeking skills;(2)to help MTI teachers and curriculum designers integrate the needs of the times and improve their curricula;(3)to provide new data support for human resources researchers or practitioners in related fields to verify and update their professional judgments;(4)to respond to the State Language Commission’s national language proficiency development and planning strategy to improve the quality of language service and enhance national influence. |
