Ethnicity is the root of the advanced culture of the Chinese nation and the symbol of the great spirit of the Chinese nation.The ethnicity of music is mainly reflected by the expressions and techniques with national characteristics,which come from the life and history of the nation.The erhu,as an ancient national instrument,has been developed with ethnicity in mind.In my past learning experience,I have studied the following erhu works with ethnicity: Yu Bei Narrative(Liu Wen Jin song),New Wedding Farewell(Zhang Xiaofeng and Zhu Xiaogu song),The Great Wall Capriccio(Liu Wen Jin song),First Erhu Rhapsody(Wang Jianmin song),Second Erhu Concerto(Guan Nai Zhong song),and so on.Among them,I am most fascinated by the nationality embodied in the work The Great Wall Capriccio.The Great Wall Capriccio is an erhu concerto composed by Mr.Liu Wenjin in the early 1980 s.The whole piece is divided into four movements: "Guanshan Xing","Beacon Fire","Sacrifice of the Faithful Soul" and "Remote Hope".The four movements contain a unique national charm,strong national sentiment and colorful national elements.The author divides the article into five parts,the first part is the introduction,which includes the research significance of this paper,the current status of domestic and international research,research ideas and methods;The second part is an introduction to the life of the composer Mr.Liu Wenjin,the background of his time and the opportunity to compose the musical work The Great Wall Capriccio.In the third part,I analyze the structure of the work The Great Wall Capriccio.In this part,I analyze the structure of the four movements of the work The Great Wall Capriccio,and analyze the composition,tonality and melody of the work The Great Wall Capriccio in order by movement;The fourth part is the core of the paper,which introduces in detail which folk music elements Mr.Liu Wenjin used in the work The Great Wall Capriccio and analyzes where these folk music elements were borrowed from.The fifth section explores the ethnicity of the work The Great Wall Capriccio,summarizes the innovations in composition technique and performance style as well as the national spirit embodied in this work,and concludes that the ethnicity embodied in the work The Great Wall Capriccio has implications for the development of erhu art in China.
