Dream art,as well as various art forms derived from it,is an important outlet for artists to transform their illusions into reality.Through this, artists can condense subtle moments that are difficult to express into their works.Dream art is also the most intimate perspective, reflecting not only the different historical backgrounds and cultural characteristics of the subject, but also helping relevant researchers to understand the artist’s inner world.Through studying dream art,I have benefited a lot and learned how to use the artistic language of dreams to build a bridge between reality and non-reality,reproducing the inner world on the canvas and expressing desires, consciousness, and emotions that cannot be visualized.Based on the relevant theories and works of dream art, this article expounds its influence on individual oil painting creation, which is divided into four parts: the first part briefly analyzes the expression and characteristics of dream art in different periods, starting from the origin and development of dream art.The second part describes the psychology of dreams from a psychological perspective, and analyzes the importance of the graphic nature of painting for creators to understand themselves. The third part attempts to analyze the dream art works of three artists,Odilon Redon,Marc Chagall, and Salvador Dali, and their inspiration and influence on the author’s creation. The fourth part, from the perspective of the creator, analyzes and combs the transformation and development of personal creation, the problems that arise, and the corresponding solutions. It mainly elaborates the whole process of the author’s personal dream art practice, including the concept, conception, and implementation.
