| Chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS)is a severe subhealth state, which is a group of syndromes(referred to as CFS)with the prominent manifestation of long-term persistent fatigue, accompanied by non-specific manifestations such as inattention, memory loss, headache, pharyngeal muscle and joint pain and sleep disorders, etc. In addition to physical symptoms such as fatigue,it is often accompanied by mental symptoms such as depression and anxiety. In recent years, the detection rate of chronic fatigue syndrome among secondary school students has been significantly higher than before.Chronic fatigue can lead to disruption of school functions and reduced social activities in students, and should be taken seriously by all parties.Previous studies have shown that the personality trait of perfectionism is a predictor of chronic fatigue, while psychological flexibility is a protective factor for chronic fatigue.Based on this, the present study focused on the effects of positive and negative perfectionism on chronic fatigue and examined the mediating role of psychological flexibility.Based on this, psychological flexibility group counseling was conducted to explore its intervention effects in reducing fatigue levels. The study consisted of two main parts. The first study used the Chinese version of the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(CFMPS),the Psy-Flex Psychological Flexibility Scale, and the Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14)to investigate the current status of perfectionism, chronic fatigue, and psychological flexibility among high school students in two high schools in Nanchang,Jiangxi Province, and to explore the relationship between the three and the mediating role of psychological flexibility.Sixteen subjects(highly negative perfectionist individuals with low mental flexibility and high fatigue)were randomly selected from the first study and divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group participated in seven group counseling interventions, and the control group underwent treatments unrelated to the intervention. At the end of the intervention, data were collected for analysis. The results showed that:1.High school students had high levels of positive perfectionism, moderate to low levels of negative perfectionism, moderate levels of psychological flexibility, and chronic fatigue;2.Positive perfectionism was significantly negatively related to chronic fatigue and significantly positively related to psychological flexibility;negative perfectionism was significantly positively related to chronic fatigue and significantly negatively related to psychological flexibility;3.Psychological flexibility partially mediates the role of perfectionism and chronic fatigue;4.A psychological flexibility group counseling intervention based on acceptance commitment therapy was effective in increasing psychological flexibility and reducing chronic fatigue levels in high school students. |
