| Since human society entered the modern industrialized era, significant changes have taken place in the structure and function of the family,as well as in the inter generational relationship of the family.A good family intergenerational relationship is not only the main source of happiness for family members, but also a propeller for the stable and stable operation of society. As a habit formed in the long-term life of individuals, cultural capital is embodied as a habit of individual socialization and cultural environment and resources at the family level. When studying the impact and changes of family intergenerational relationships, cultural capital theory can provide us with a more specific analytical perspective. What is the impact of cultural capital on rural family intergenerational relationships? How did it have an impact?Based on the theoretical framework of cultural capital, this article explores the impact of cultural capital on the intergenerational relationship of rural families from different states. The study found that in the inter generational interaction within the family field, due to differences in the state of cultural capital, different families have one-way economic support and two-way interaction between generations, close and loose forms of inter generational family labor cooperation, deep and shallow inter generational emotional communication, and fewer and frequent inter generational conflicts in families. The impact of cultural capital on intergenerational relationships in rural families is mainly reflected in the understanding of their parents in terms of personal habits and tendencies,as well as their understanding of their lifestyles and life concepts.Adequate cultural capital conditions such as a good cultural and educational environment and democratic family ethos in the family can shape an intimate family intergenerational relationship. However, children’s habitual dependence on their parents in terms of their personal "temperament" and tendencies, their harsh attitudes towards their children in life, the poor cultural and educational environment in the family, and the lack of various cultural goods often lead to the development of rigid and alienated family intergenerational relationships. At the same time,in families with significant differences in institutionalized cultural capital, offspring can form two-way support for intergenerational economic interaction and labor cooperation with their parents. However, differences in the common discourse system between offspring and parents can lead to less emotional communication between the two generations, and conflicts occur from time to time, forming an instrumental family intergenerational relationship. In terms of the functional path of cultural capital, research has found that the state of cultural capital of individuals and families is influenced by the modernization process and the rural cultural normative system, leading to differences in the state of cultural capital between offspring and parents. At the same time, the understanding of individual initiative and the occurrence of specific events in the life sequence can also shape the state of cultural capital of individuals. In short, cultural capital is shaped in a variety of different states by both structural and dynamic shaping, and this difference in the state of cultural capital plays a crucial role in the formation of intergenerational relationships in rural families. |
