Abstract/Summary:
The concept of ‘Transformation’ was first produced in the primitive culture and mythological thinking of human beings.It is a narrative of the mutual transformation between human and heterogeneity in mythology.With the long development of human civilization,with its strong and unique vitality,it has gradually become a recurring motif in later literary works,including movie and television product.‘Transformation’ is the morphological transformation between human and other species,human and other life species or inanimate species in myths and legends.The motif of transformation originated from ancient mythology,which is called‘change’myth or‘transformation’myth.After that,it is prevalent in the world folk stories,reflecting the cultural psychology of all ethnic groups in the world.Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film works are widely loved by teenagers and even adults around the world with their magical realism style,fantastic narrative techniques and profound humanistic connotations.The release of its most representative fantasy animated film The Spirited Away has made Hayao Miyazaki famous in China and has far-reaching influence.In Hayao Miyazaki ’s fantasy animated films,directed,written and produced by Hayao Miyazaki himself,most of the film texts involve the issue of‘transformation’.The transformation motif bears an important narrative function.‘Transformation’ sometimes appears as an organic part of the story,sometimes it is an indispensable plot unit to construct the whole story framework,and even has become a mode of structural story.The research object of this paper is Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film works.Taking‘transformation motif’as the starting point,this paper selects the film texts with transformation motif in Hayao Miyazaki’s series of animated films,and studies the motif types,narrative behavior process,cultural function and psychological narrative function of transformation motif,as well as the spread and acceptance of transformation motif in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films in China.On this basis,a deep cultural interpretation of the typical cases is carried out,and the essence of transformation and the cultural concepts behind it are explored.This paper attempts to explore the value system,creative characteristics and cultural connotation of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films,and reveal the cultural,psychological and folk beliefs contained in the transformation motif.The introduction part mainly expounds the significance of the study of transformation motif.The introduction includes three parts : presentation of questions,the domestic and foreign research review,and the definition of related academic terms.The first chapter of the paper focuses on the ‘heterogeneity’ and ‘people’ of the deformed subjects in Hayao Miyazaki ’s animated films.On the basis of combing the literature on‘transformation’ and drawing on the previous research results of folk stories and myths containing the motif of transformation,the author follows the two subjects of‘heterogeneity’ and ‘human’ and the interaction between the two subjects in the process of internal transformation.The type of transformation motif is divided into two types :‘transformation between human and heterogeneity’ and ‘transformation of heterogeneity’.In the interaction between ‘heterogeneity’ and ‘human’,the ‘transformation between human and heterogeneity’can be divided into two types : ‘variation of human’and‘variation of heterogeneity’.The second chapter analyzes the transformation motif of Hayao Miyazaki ’s animated films from the perspective of psychological narrative.The film is closely related to the psychology of the film creator and the audience’s recognition mechanism of the film.This chapter focuses on the psychological narrative function and psychological healing effect of Hayao Miyazaki ’s animated film’s transformation motif.In the third chapter,the author tries to analyze the expression form and extension of the transformation motif in the film and television works on the basis of the film and television narrative theory,and explore how the film and television art elements in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films participate in the transformation motif narrative.The fourth chapter analyzes the cultural connotation of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film transformation motif.The author tries to analyze the cultural source of Hayao Miyazaki’s animation film transformation motif from Japanese folk tradition,legend and story prototype.For the following questions : How does the metamorphosis motif participate in the narrative in Hayao Miyazaki’s films ? What is the folk culture and psychology behind the transformation motif of Hayao Miyazaki’s animation ? What is the meaning and value of the metamorphosis motif in Hayao Miyazaki’s films ? This article answers one by one.This paper uses the following theories or methods : First,it mainly uses the theory of film and television narratology and the theory of psychological narration to explore the particularity of film and television narration and the creation and development of transformation motif in visual stories.The film uses ‘transformation’ as a means of expression,highlighting the changes in the psychological state of the characters and conveying specific emotions and imagination.The second is the film literature method.The author’s interpretation of the film text requires the help of relevant works and materials,among which Hayao Miyazaki’s own creation and interviews are important first-hand materials.The third is the method of aesthetic criticism.In the process of watching the film,the author comprehends the intrinsic beauty of Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film works,pays attention to the emotions transmitted by Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film,records own spiritual shock and emotional excitement,tries to interpret the cultural connotation,character image and aesthetic meaning of animated film,and takes care of the character image and ideological theme of the film with humanistic feelings.The fourth is interdisciplinary and cross-cultural research methods.The author attempts to demonstrate the relationship between animation art and folk literature and folk culture by studying the transformation motif in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated films.
