A Research On The Critical Theory Of Baudrillard’s Symbolic Political Economics

Baudrillard is a famous contemporary French philosopher,whose theory represented by symbolic political economy has had a profound impact on the Western world.In recent years,more and more scholars in China have studied him.Especially other theories related to consumer society are receiving increasing attention from domestic and foreign academic circles.His critical theory of symbolic political economy has an important logical connection with Marx’s political economy.This article mainly starts with his early works.Firstly,it is necessary to grasp the overall context of his critique theory of symbolic political economy and clarify its ideas.He believes that in the contemporary development of capitalism,society has completely transitioned from a production oriented society to a consumption oriented society,and the duality of use value and exchange value as commodities is no longer sufficient to express the full connotation of commodities.Baudrillard introduced symbolic value,Using this as a starting point to fiercely criticize the cultural and value systems manipulated by symbols or codes.Baudrillard delves into the analysis of contemporary capitalist society,believing that the consumer society encodes the entire material production society through symbols or codes,and then subtly manipulates the mass ideology through the dissemination of symbolic ideology through mass media,thereby completing the comprehensive control of the entire society.Secondly,the study of Baudrillard’s critical theory of symbolic political economy cannot be separated from Marx’s relevant theories of political economy.Baudrillard went through a process of self supplementation,inheritance,and development from Marx to complete deviation.This section mainly revolves around the production logic of Marxism,but in the end,Baudrillard’s theory gradually moved towards nothingness due to its lack of practical foundation.Third,we stand in the perspective of Marx and examine his theory from the perspective of historical materialism,pointing out his misunderstandings and mistakes.Finally,any theory has its progressiveness and limitations,and analyzing and criticizing the critical theory of symbolic political economy has certain practical implications for China’s gradually deepening reform and opening up.At the same time,it is of great significance for us to deeply understand Marxist political economy theory and strengthen our determination to defend its theoretical position.
