The Application Of The Narrtive Function Of Light And Shadow In The Story Picture Book

In the design and creation of picture books,narrative methods have been changing and innovating with the development of The Times and cultural background.From the perspective of various narrative methods,such as text narration,image narration and picture narration,the narrative rules of picture books are constantly changing,and the creativity and rhythm of narration also play an important role in every picture book.Based on such changes,from the perspective of image narration,this paper selects the role of light and shadow element,goes deep into each link and object of narrative in picture books,combines a large number of literature references and analysis of excellent picture books,explores the mechanism and functional characteristics of light and shadow as narrative elements in picture books,and studies its unique light and shadow narrative function in picture books.Therefore,the research content involves the connotation,classification,characteristics and factors affecting the dynamics of light and shadow,as well as the correlation between light and shadow and visual perception.The research method is combined with a large number of actual picture book creation cases to summarize the influence of light and shadow elements in picture book narrative.Finally,it is concluded that on the one hand,light and shadow elements can trigger readers’ associations,anchor the temporal and spatial attributes of picture books,connect picture books,and promote the development of story plots.On the other hand,the metaphor of light and shadow narration and the autonomy of light and shadow depiction expand the surreal representation and characteristics of picture book narrative perspective.In the end,the thesis further verifies the scientificality and standardization of the research conclusion through the creative practice of Graduation.For example,in the picture book "Old Aunt’s Tree" by Graduation,the image metaphor with only projection but no character is used to express the death of old aunt,so as to inform children of the fact implicitly.Through the change of tone and direction of light and shadow,the time attribute of the story is implied.The research results will provide reference for the creation and application of picture books in the future.
