Research On The Image Construction Of The Father Character In Private Images

Private images usually take private life and opinions as the core,and use video docum entary as the carrier to express the creator’s thinking about personal life experience and inte rpersonal questioning.However,the image construction of the role of father in most private images mostly starts from a single,traditional,and rigid perspective.And because of the pa rticularity of private images,most private images are conservative in the choice of methods for the image construction of the father’s role,often limited to traditional observation meth ods,unwilling to subjectively interfere with the action process of the characters,and the int eraction between the photographer and the characters is also less.This leads to the single an d narrow research horizon of the image construction of the father’s role in the private imag e.The private image " The Pieces Of My Father " uses a variety of composite methods to c onstruct the image of the father,which provides an example for the broadening of the resea rch horizon of the image construction of the father’s role in the private image.This paper takes the graduation work " The Pieces Of My Father " as an example,com bined with some documentaries and dramas,combined with literary theory,psychoanalysis t heory,metacinema narrative,gaze theory and Bakhtin’s dialogue and carnival theory as the s upport,from the external construction of the father’s image,the internal construction of the f ather’s image,the image construction of the father’s image to explore the construction of the father’s image in " The Pieces Of My Father ",and to analyze the father’s multi-faceted cha racter,look at the current social middle-aged men’s living conditions and spiritual world,at t he same time,the father-son relationship is supplemented by the contrast perspective,enrich the father’s character image,in the process of looking back at the old father-son relationshi p,reshape the intergenerational connection and power relationship between the father and t he son,the creator and the subject,so as to construct the father’s character image from the m ulti-narrative perspective.The first part of this paper mainly introduces the external constru ction of the father’s image in the dilemma of ideal and conflict.It expounds the cultural and social construction of the father’s image and the rule construction of the father’s image fro m three aspects: the conflict between poetry and work,the conflict in marriage and interge nerational relations,and the conflict between the father’s quitting smoking and the son’s sm oking.Then it draws the conclusion that the conflict between ideal and reality in daily life i s the main driving force for the external construction of the father’s image in private image s.The second part is to deconstruct and reconstruct the image of the father from the perspec tive of metacinema.Through the means of "play in play",dream,relocation,photos,intervi ews,text and film,it refers to the inner worries and memories of the characters,and establi shes the intertextual relationship between father and son and metacinema.It is concluded t hat the narrative strategy of metacinema is an effective means to deconstruct and reshape t he internal construction of the father’s image in private images.The third part is intended to explain how to complete the image construction of the father’s image through the lens narr ative,how to structure the power relationship between the photographer and the main chara cter under the theoretical perspective of gaze and anti-gaze,dialogue and carnival,and the e motional healing of private images,and analyze the character’s emotion in the construction of the power relationship,so as to draw the conclusion that the conflict and reconciliation o f the relationship between the characters are the important means of the image construction of the father’s image in the private image.This article attempts to analyze how a father and son get along with each other through a documentary film,lead to the emotional entanglem ent of history and memory,family affection and inheritance,ideal and reality,trauma and r econciliation,and construct the character image of the father’s role in the film.Through th e study of the image construction of the father’s role in the private image,the study of the c haracter image construction in the entire private image is concerned,in order to provide ref erence for future research and creation.
