"Zhao’s Orphan" is a well-known story,which was first recorded in "Historical Records".The writer Zou Jingzhi and the composer Lei Lei presented the story to the public in the form of Chinese opera.As the first aria of the play,"Children,What Shall We Do" has beautiful melody and high singing difficulty.This article explores how to better interpret the aria of the opera and further understand the opera "Zhao’s Orphan" through the analysis and study of the singing of "Children,What Shall We Do".The paper is divided into four parts.The first part gives a comprehensive overview of the artistic features of the opera "The Orphan of Zhao" in terms of its creative background,creative team,plot outline and language arrangement,and deeply understands the story and emotion contained in the work.The second part starts with the musical form,lyrics and melody,and analyzes the musical structure/harmony/rhythm of the musical form.The third part starts with the key points of singing and stage presentation,and analyzes the singing of "Children,What Shall We Do" from the aspects of articulation,the use of half-voice singing,the control of breath,speed and strength,and the stage effect,body language,and emotional interaction with the audience,so as to better interpret the song.
