| Learning engagement is an important measure of student academic performance,playing a key role in predicting positive academic outcomes and adaptive behaviors.To improving students’ learning engagement is of great significance to their all-round development.Children were in the transition from external motivation to internal motivation in primary school,and developing good study habits at this time can lay the foundation for better in the future.As important others of primary school children,parental involvement in their growth is closely related to children’s learning engagement.According to the transactional theory,there may be a mutual relationship between parental involvement and children’s learning engagement,and the existence of a dynamic relationship between factors is emphasized.In addition,the difference in gender gives parents different functions and roles in the family.Accordingly,this study explored the reciprocal relationship between children’s learning engagement and parental involvement,as well as the difference between father and mother,by constructed a cross-lagged model and a parallel latent growth model.In order to provide a basis for children’s academic performance and the harmonious development of the family.Accordingly,1037 children were selected for follow-up every six months,for a total of three follow-up studies a year.The measurement selected the Student Learning Engagement Scale and the Parental Involvement Questionnaire.The results showed that:(1)paternal involvement positively predicted children’s learning engagement,while maternal involvement on children’s learning engagement was not significant;Conversely,both paternal and maternal involvement were positively contributed by children’s learning engagement.(2)Children’s learning engagement,paternal involvement and maternal involvement showed a linear upward trend at three time-point;(3)The initial level of paternal involvement predicted the initial level of children’s learning engagement,and the growth of paternal involvement was accelerate the growth of children’s learning engagement;Conversely,both the initial level of both paternal and maternal involvement would be positively influenced by the initiation level learning engagement of children.The results of this study reveal the reciprocal relationship between parental involvement and children’s learning engagement,and find differences between fathers and mothers.The results highlighted the importance of paternal involvement in children’s learning engagement,and the fact that children’s learning engagement in turn arouses parents’ behavior.This study enriches our understanding of parenting behavior and children’s academic performance,and provides guidance for children’s academic development and family health construction. |
