The Chen Zhong Series was another publication and literary achievement of The Chen Zhong Association in addition to The Chen Zhong Weekly and The Chen Zhong Bimonthly. It was also one of the literary achievements in the 1920s.This paper takes the series research as the main line, taking into account the ideas of association research, periodical research and writer’s works research, and carries out an in-depth research on the association literature series of the Chen Zhong Series, which has the characteristics of youth culture in the 1920s.The Chen Zhong Association is a collegial youth literature society in the post May Fourth era.It was born at the time of the rise of small literary societies in Beijing and the boom of literary publishing.Due to their common interest in literature, the Chen Zhong Association and its members got together and founded the weekly magazine,Chen Zhong Weekly,at their own expense in 1925,which was later changed to the semi-monthly magazine and ended in 1934.The ten-year history of the Chen Zhong Association can be described as arduous and tortuous.Colleagues not only faced the difficulty of insufficient publishing funds, but also experienced three disputes with the publishing house. Therefore, the Chen Zhong Association has been suspended and resumed for four times before and after its establishment. The tortuous experience of the young people in the Chen Zhong Association fully illustrates the dilemma that the anonymous youthful literature society must face when publishing independently. There are seven works in the Chen Zhong Series, but they were published in two batches. The first one was published by Beixin Press in 1927,and the last three works were published by the Chen Zhong Association in 1929 and 1930.But in fact the sunken bell periodicals publishing process, like clock, weekly difficulties, through to the relevant historical materials, the sunken bell periodicals published after brewing two died and at least four times change in the publishing books,in addition to the published seven books, heavy bell club at least once to 13 kinds of bibliography into publishing plans, but ultimately failed to meet for a variety of difficulties. The sunken bell periodicals editing completed jointly by the Chen Zhong Association four members, they take a nonutilitarian editing concept and the literary proposition of "art for art’s sake",away from the literary controversy and refuse to use celebrity marketing strategies. So even though the Chen Zhong Series was beautifully bound and illustrated,it did not have a wide influence among its readers, and only yielded a "faint echo".The literary creation in the Chen Zhong Series can also be divided into two periods. In the early stage,it was a personal writing to express sadness and anguish. The spectrum of the images of the wounded in the works reflected the common mental state of some young literary people after the ebb of the May Fourth Movement. The later works changed from subjective lyricism to objective realism, and the tone changed from the melancholy of youth to the melancholy of middle age.The Chen Zhong Series embodies the characteristics of young Chinese new literature culture and forms the different writing styles of the Chen Zhong Association writers, which is the literary creation practice of Beijing literary and art circles in the second half of 1920s.
