The dissertation is based on fieldwork and combines the existing results of predecessor.Based on the description of sound system,homophones of Yangzhong dialects are provided in the appendix section.There are six chapters in the dissertation.The third chapter,fourth chapter and fifth chapter are main body.The main contents of every chapter are as follows.First chapter:Introduction.This chapter introduces general situations about Yangzhong region and dialect,including geography,administrative division,build purchase evolution and dialectal attribution about Yangzhong;then explains research significance,research methods and research materials about this dissertation.Second chapter:Sound System.The sound and tonal system,tone coordination table and consecution transposed are described in detail.Third chapter : Initials.Initials’ pronunciation types and evolutions about dialect of Yangzhong are mainly discussed in this chapter.It focuses on initials of Ri(日),Yi(疑)and Wei(微),and so on.Fourth chapter : Finals.Finals’ pronunciation types and evolutions about dialect of Yangzhong are mainly discussed in this chapter.It focuses on Guo(果)rhyme group,Jia(假)rhyme group,Xie(蟹)Zhi(止)rhyme groups,Xian(咸)Shan(山)rhyme groups,and so on.Fifth chapter:Tones.Tones’ pronunciations about dialect of Yangzhong are mainly discussed in this chapter.General situations about tone,including amounts of tones,tone patterns and tone pitches.Sixth chapter:Conclusion.In this chapter,we make a comparison of Yangzhong dialect,Jiang-Huai Mandarin and the northern Wu dialect,then we point out the common elements between Yangzhong dialect and the two.Combining with the criteria of area division of Jiang-Huai Mandarin and basing on phonology of Yangzhong dialect,this dissertation suggests Yangzhong dialect should be divided into the Tong-Tai area.
