In academic discourse,the expression of the author’s stance is crucial in supporting author-reader communication and understanding.Stance markers are linguistic devices used by authors to express their positions,opinions,attitudes and emotional dispositions.Since the introduction of stance theory,many researchers at home and abroad have begun to study the expression of authorial position in discourse.For the study of stance markers,perhaps because of their origin in the West,most of the current studies are mainly individual descriptions of the English corpus,followed by comparative studies of the English-Chinese corpus,while there are fewer studies of the Chinese corpus,and the Chinese corpus is dominated by news reports,speeches and other genres,with few systematic studies using the Chinese academic discourse as the corpus.Based on the stance theory,this paper examines the distribution and use of stance markers in Chinese academic discourse from two perspectives-each category and each part of academic discourse,using Chinese academic papers in the humanities and social sciences as the corpus and constructing a self-constructed corpus,and using a combination of econometric statistics and static descriptions.On the basis of this,a sample academic Chinese writing textbook is attempted to be designed on how to evaluate the current status of research and establish the status of research in the literature review.The research results of this paper are expected to provide experience in Chinese corpus for the study of stance markers,and are also expected to provide reference for the teaching of academic Chinese writing to international students.The paper is divided into five parts.The introductory section introduces the background of the study,discusses the research questions and the significance of the study,and explains the research methodology and the sources of the corpus.The literature review section will review the metadiscourse and stance,the types of stance markers and the current status of domestic and international research.Based on the self-constructed corpus,the third chapter will present the use of types of stance markers in Chinese academic papers and the distribution of stance markers in every parts of academic discourse in conjunction with the corpus.Based on this,Chapter 4attempts to design a sample textbook chapter based on literature review writing and the use of stance markers.The conclusion and reflection section summarizes the research results and the value of this paper,and discusses the directions for further research in the future.
