| Since 1980,the writing of Chinese images in American science fiction has gradually increased,and the image of China written by American science fiction writers is the epitome of China’s image in the United States in the new era.From these writings,we can also get a glimpse of the future view of American society on China’s image to a certain extent.Using the relevant methods and theories of comparative literary iconography,this paper systematically sorts out some American science fiction novels after 1980,analyzes in detail the Chinese image in American science fiction since 1980 and the shaping strategy of Chinese image,and further explores the deep reasons for its creation.Since 1980,some images of China in American science fiction have mainly included complex Chinese images,demonized Chinese politics,and Chinese culture in which objectivity and prejudice coexist.The strategies of American science fiction to shape China’s image include biased treatment of Chinese image,distorted writing of Chinese politics,and superficial presentation of Chinese culture.In addition,the study also compares the image of China in American science fiction with the real Chinese image,and the facts show that even with the development of science and technology and cultural exchanges,there is still a certain distance between the Chinese image in American science fiction and the real Chinese image,and the misinterpretation of Chinese image still exists.On the one hand,it is influenced by the social environment,and on the other hand,it is also related to the personal factors of the writer.The image of China in American science fiction is essentially America’s identification with itself,and behind it lies a strong ideological and cultural hegemony.The research is helpful to further understand the contemporary Chinese image and future Chinese image in American science fiction,and enriches the study of Chinese image in American literature from the literary genre and timeline,provides a certain reference for the shaping and dissemination of the future Chinese image,and provides some help for related research in the future. |
