As cultural exchanges between Russia and China become more frequent, the interest of Chinese readers in Russian literature grows. As an important form of literary work, the novel is so popular that more and more Russian novels are being translated into Chinese. This translation report is based on a collection of short stories by Russian writer Tatyana Bulatova — To give a farewell promise, this work was published in 2013 by the Russian publishing house Eksmo, which is not yet available in Chinese translation. This collection of fiction is based on the daily lives of grandchildren and their grandparents, and recreates the lives of elderly people in contemporary Russia and the deep love of grandparents for their grandchildren. The storyline is colourful and heartwarming, and while it provokes the reader to think about the relationships and the fate of the characters,it also allows the reader to feel endlessly empowered by the work.In the translation practice report the translator summarises his translation experience by analysing the characteristics of the original text and carrying out case studies with the help of methods such as amplification, sentence combination and sequencing method.Through this translation practice, the translator aims to accumulate relevant experience, improve the translation of the novel text and provide some reference for the translation of other similar texts.
