A Study Of Yao Tingmei’s Painting Having Leisure

Yao Tingmei,a painter of the Yuan Dynasty,painted " Having Leisure " in the 20 th year of Zhizheng(1360).This painting is a typical landscape painting of literati.It depicts the ancient trees on the slope and the stream of thatched houses.The landscape of Yao’s scroll is obviously in the style of Guo Xi,and the brush is quite similar to curled cloud,but it lacks the fresh and moist style of Li Cheng and Guo Xi’s style.After the painting,there are four lines of Yao Tingmei’s own writing,seven pieces of silk and paper after the heart of the painting,and the long postscript of Yang Weizhen’s "Youyuxianshuo" and the postscript of 21 poems and essays by Wan Yi and other literati.This article talks about " Having Leisure ".The first chapter shows five paintings around the world under the name of Yao Tingmei.This chapter also sorts out the evaluations of painters,literati,and connoisseurs of various dynasties since the Yuan Dynasty on Yao Tingmei,and analyzes the painting style of the work " The Painting of Leisure",explaining the process of the collection and dissemination of this painting.In the second chapter,the author analyzes and judges the author of "Youyuxianshuo" through relevant materials,and believes that the author of "Youyuxianshuo",Zhang Mengchen,should be a famous scholar in Songjiang during the Yuan and Ming dynasties,Zhang Shu,who was also a student of Yang Weizhen;This chapter also analyzes the identity of "Du Yinjun",the person who accept the painting,and believes that it is more reasonable for contemporary scholar Gu Gong to classify "Du Yinjun" in the volume as Du Min.At the end of the chapter,the author focuses on the textual research of the postscript writers of the "Leisure Map",and seeks the identity of these postscript writers.The author believes that among the postscript of the book,there are several people who are friendly with Yang Weizhen,who should be Yang’s little friends,and also those who have close contact with the calligraphy and painting circles of the "Four Schools of Yuan Dynasty".The postscript in the book should all be literati at that time.In the turbulent era of the late Yuan Dynasty,due to special opportunities,they gathered together to write poems and compositions for the old man surnamed Du under the title of "Have Leisure".Therefore,"The Painting of Leisure" is a typical collection of literati at the end of the Yuan Dynasty.In the current textbooks of Chinese art history,Yao Tingmei is not an important painter,there are not many articles about his paintings.The purpose of this paper is to make a case study of Yao Tingmei’s " Having Leisure ",to find out the source of his style,style and features,to explore the communication and exchanges of various postscript writers,and to present more in-depth information behind the painting.I hope that by studying this volume,we can deepen our understanding of Yao Tingmei and the literati painting circle at the end of the Yuan Dynasty.
