Abstract/Summary:
Nowadays,as art and technology are more closely connected, video installation works are filled with art exhibitions and galleries of all sizes and have become a popular art medium.Throughout the evolution of local image art, from single-screen image to multi-screen image, from mechanical device to spatial interaction, the space shaping in image has become a common concern of contemporary artists. As the father of Chinese video art,Zhang Peili has made constructive contributions to the development of local video art and video art.By analyzing the spatial narrative development in Zhang Peili’s works,we can see the development history of Chinese video art and the development trend of local video art in the future.Guided by Lefebvre’s "third space" theory, this paper explores the spatial narrative logic and strategy in the current video installation works by combing and analyzing the spatial and narrative research of Zhang Peili’s video installation works, proposes the feasibility and significance of introducing spatial narrative theory into contemporary video installation works, and explores the spatial design method of video installation works. To allow the viewer to have a deeper connection with the work.Combined with personal creation practice,it proves the function of spatial narrative theory in video installation works. It is hoped that through this study, more possibilities can be created for the narrative of future video installation works, and new ideas can be opened in the ways and methods of space design,so that the audience can have a better viewing experience.
