| The emergence and application of the theory of chunks is a revolution to the field of linguistics.Applying the theory of chunks to language teaching can effectively promote language learning.At present,the research on the application of chunk theory in International Chinese Language Education is either aimed at the whole vocabulary and grammar teaching,or aimed at the teaching of a specific fixed phrase,while the research on the application of idiom teaching is relatively few,and no specific teaching program has been proposed.In this context,this paper studies the application of chunk theory in idiom teaching in International Chinese Language Education by means of questionnaire survey and comparative experiment,so as to explore ways to improve the effectiveness of idiom classroom teaching.This paper firstly reviews the origin,development and related research of the theory of chunks at home and abroad,and points out the feasibility of the teaching of Chinese idioms under the guidance of the theory of chunks.Secondly,it classifies the idioms in the textbook "Liberal Chinese" and "New HSK5-6 Vocabulary Outline" in detail,so as to provide an extract of the idiom teaching case design.Then a questionnaire was issued to investigate and analyze foreign students’ grasp of idioms and difficulties in learning them.Then the theory of chunks is used to design idiom classroom teaching,and a comparative experiment is carried out with the traditional idiom teaching methods,so as to compare the teaching effect of idioms based on the theory of chunks and the traditional idiom teaching methods.By comparing the advantages of the idiom teaching based on the theory of chunks,the delay test shows that the theory of chunks has a significant effect on the memory of foreign students learning idioms.Finally,this paper makes a teaching reflection from the teaching experiment and the teaching process,and puts forward teaching suggestions from three aspects:improving teachers’ analytical ability of idiom blocks,strengthening students’ input of idiom blocks,and choosing flexible teaching methods and strategies,so as to provide useful reference for improving the quality of idiom teaching based on the theory of chunks. |
