The city is a human settlement distinct from the countryside,and its essential characteristics are mainly reflected in its centralization and centrality,and it is a space for the collection of human political,economic and cultural spheres.In the continuous evolution of the city,the city accelerates the process of human interaction through its own material and cultural power,and transmits the culture of the city from generation to generation through various tangible material and immaterial ideological carriers in the city,forming the "city culture" called the soul of the city.In the spatial and temporal structure of human historical activities,the city is the historical generation of civilization and the development process of human society.In a sense,the city itself is culture,and dance art is also a kind of culture,which has gradually accumulated in the long history of urban development.Overlooking the twentieth century,the team of Chinese dance was able to grow and social status was improved;entering the 1970 s and 1980 s,the reform and opening up achieved a change in thinking,promoting the change of culture and interpreting the style of the times;at the beginning of the twenty-first century,the city entered the era of thematic culture,with active thinking in the creative field,constant changes in concepts,and an increasing number of works presenting the characteristics of urban culture;from 2019 to the present,Chinese From 2019 to the present,Chinese dance has shown a prosperous situation,with academic renewal,masterpieces,and creations rooted in the thick soil of culture,and has made remarkable achievements in the world.Since the twenty-first century,dance works have focused on the embodiment of urban cultural forms,and the interpretation of urban culture in dance varies,such as dances that express the emotions of urban life and pay tribute to the surging times,constantly expressing the consciousness and emotions of various living individuals in urban life,interpreting the colors of their own civilization and life.In addition,the creation of dance theater is also based on the individual characteristics of various urban cultures,including the "face","temperament" and even "fun" of the city,and the city is never seen as a static object in the creation of dance.In the dance creation,the city is never regarded as a static object,such as the dance works "Into the City","Workers" and "Sleepless Night",the contemporary dance drama "Until Then",the dance drama "The Feast of Beijing","The Never Ending Radio Wave" and "Meal of Effort",and the dance poem "The City",which are all powerful physical evidence of a city’s culture and an important embodiment of a city’s cultural value.This thesis is divided into four chapters: Chapter 1,Character Writing of the City.Firstly,the concept of city is interpreted,and the shaping and manifestation of city culture in different kinds of art is analyzed.The second chapter,dance perceives the temperature of the city.It analyzes how urban culture and dance are intertwined from two perspectives: the interpretation methods in the creation of dance works and the focus on the characteristics of different times in the subject matter of creation,including the advancement,changes,historical accumulation and current life of the city.The third chapter,body painting in different regions.According to the four categories of first-tier cities,new first-tier cities,second-tier cities,third-tier cities and non-linear cities,we analyze how choreographers in dance creation express the different cultural characteristics of each city in terms of subject matter selection,movement interpretation,and plot design,etc.Chapter 4,the exploration of the relationship between the city and modern society.The value and significance of the existence of dance works as a microcosm of the city are explained from three aspects: modernism,dance groups and works.
