| The women’s rights have been a heated topic for a long time.Currently, there are still many inequalities between men and women, which should not exist. The feminist translation obviously takes gender into consideration, which is not only the deconstruction of the traditional translation theory, but also the deconstruction of the male chauvinism. With the present prevailing strategy of Chinese culture “going out”,the study on English translation of Chinese classics has become popular.Li Qingzhao is one of the most important female writers in the history of Chinese literature. She was not changed by the feudal ethics which controlled women’s thoughts and stifled women’s talents. Her ci-poetry expresses herself candidly and naturally and makes the most sonorous sound in the patriarchal society with strong feminist consciousness. The thesis analyzes Li Qingzhao’s ci-poetry from the perspective of the feminist translation, aiming to explore how Li Qingzhao’s feminist consciousness is showed in the translation and what feminist translation strategies are used by the translators to show Li Qingzhao’s feminist consciousness.Firstly, the study will make a meticulous comparison analysis on the original texts and the translated ones to find out how Li Qingzhao’s feminist consciousness is showed in the translation. Then the study analyzes the feminist translation strategies the translators adopt to show the feminist consciousness. The research finds that:(1)The feminist consciousness in the original text can be revealed in three aspects, namely, highlighting women’s self-consciousness,speaking for women’s rights in love and shaping positive women’s image from patriotism. In the process of translation, the translators embody the three kinds of feminist consciousness.Sometimes the language employed by the translators shows the feminist consciousness stronger than in the original text.(2)Some feminist translation strategies are also showed in the translation to reveal the feminist consciousness. They are prefacing and footnoting, hijacking and supplementing. The author hopes that the study can promote people’s attention to women’s rights and make a contribution to the healthy development of the both sexes. In the meanwhile, the author hopes that this study can to a certain extent facilitate the development of feminist translation. Finally, this study provides a brand-new perspective for the study of English translation of Li Qingzhao’s ci-poetry.The author hopes that this study can provide an enlightenment for the study of the English translation of other feminist literary works. |
