As a unique type of film in China,opera film is an art form with opera as the object of expression and film and television technology as the means of expression.Opera film is a unique type of film in China,an art form with opera as the object of expression and film and television technology as the means of expression.in the 1950 s and 1960 s,different types of opera films were launched on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.The aesthetic forms and cultural carriers behind Taiwan opera films were characterized by culture and the times.This article attempts to restore Taiwan’s "drama film craze" in the 1950 s and 1960 s to a historical context,and regards the emergence of Taiwan opera films as a reflection of an era phenomenon in popular cultureto discuss two popular styles in Taiwan.A form of opera film—the inner aesthetics and cultural characteristics of Gezi opera film and Huangmei Opera film.The first chapter will take the emergence and development of Gezi opera films as an entry point to restore the social changes and cultural identity in Taiwan in the 1950 s.The birth of Gezai opera films is closely related to the cultural shift caused by social change.The government did not directly banits performance to suppress the locality of Taiwan culture,but adopted "soft governance" to dispell the identity anxiety brought by the particularity of "language";The second chapter focuses on the popularity and development of Huangmei Opera Film in Hong Kong and Taiwan,and lays emphasize on the reasons for the popularity of Huangmei Opera Film in Taiwan.The cultural form of Huangmei Opera Film type can be summarized as "de-localization" and "pan-China".From the perspective of overseas Chinese audiences,through the imagination of history and culture,it makes up for the broken Confucian tradition,thus preserving national consciousness and "national" identity;The third chapter discusses Huangmei Opera film and Gezi opera film as different artistic aesthetic forms.The subject matter,narrative and values of Gezai Opera and Huangmei Opera are essentially based on traditional Chinese cultural imagination,but they also contain different ideological tendencies.As the only local drama in China that was born in Taiwan,Gezi Opera is a mixed form of realism and freehand brushwork,and it has not formed a formal aesthetic style.It can also be seen that the aesthetics is chaotic under the commercial orientation.Despite of its commercial-oriented nature,Huangmei Opera movies have formed a perfect aesthetic of "playing with shadows",and have deeply influenced the contemporary opera movies of the era because of the keen vision and profound aesthetic tradition of the production team The experience of aesthetics,group awareness and industrial communication brought by Taiwanese opera films is also promoting current film practice.
