This paper takes the words that are formed by "Hong" in A Collection of Complete Poems in the Tang Dynasty(abbreviated as Complete Tang Poems in the following passage)as the research object,and through the method of combining quantitative and qualitative analysis,divides its semantic types and interprets its rhetorical connotation.According to the interpretation of "Hong" in Chinese Dictionary,words formed by "Hong" in Complete Tang Poems are divided into two semantic categories: [+bird] and[-bird].These two semantic categories mainly include four semantic types,which are marked as: words formed by "Hong" [+bird],words formed by "Hong" [-bird] [+human],words formed by "Hong" [-bird] [+social life],words formed by "Hong" [-bird] [+natural landscape].In the artistic context of poems in the Tang Dynasty,this thesis examines the semantic information they present in the dynamic linguistic environment,and reveals the use of this kind of parameter-formation in Complete Tang Poems as well as its unique semantic expression and rhetorical function.The paper is mainly divided into the following four parts:The introduction classifies and summarizes the existing research results of "Hong" and its parameter-formation.Through combing,such results in the linguistic level of research mainly focus on semantic discrimination of "Hong" and a single "Hong" reference words in scattered text material,cannot fully show the whole semantic system of "Hong" and semantic features of its words,besides,analysis of "Hong" and its formation from rhetorical perspective is few,which leaves room for this paper to explain the formation of "Hong" from the perspective of semantics and rhetoric.The first chapter focuses on semantic analysis,mainly examining the semantic characteristics of "Hong" and its formation in Complete Tang Poems.First,through sorting out the meanings of "Hong" in the dictionary,generalizing the eight main meanings of "Hong",and makeing clear that the original meaning of "Hong" is goose or swan.Secondly,with reference to the inclusion and interpretation of words in Chinese Dictionary,extracting the word formation of "Hong" in Complete Tang Poems and analyzing the semantic generation characteristics of monosyllabic words and polysemy.Finally,this part exhaustively investigates the meanings of "Hong" reference words in the context of Complete Tang Poems,classifies the semantic field according to the specific conditions of these meanings,and then summarizes the four main semantic types of "Hong" reference words in the context of Complete Tang Poems.Chapter two to Four focus on rhetoric interpretation,which is based on the first chapter and combined with the context of Complete Tang Poems to investigate the rhetorical connotations of the four types of "Hong" reference words: words formed by "Hong" [+bird] gradually deviated from the pure objective reference of biological level,and became an emotional symbol to create artistic conception and express feelings after entering the artistic context of poems in the Tang Dynasty,realizing the aesthetic transfer from conceptual cognition to rhetoric cognition.words formed by "Hong" [-bird] [+human]are extended by words formed by "Hong" [+bird] through metaphor and metaphor,and present rhetorical messages in the art form of "Bird To Man".Words formed by "Hong" [-bird] [+social life] are the artistic reflection of political life and the matter of immortal way in Complete Tang Poems.Words formed by "Hong" [-bird] [+natural landscape]focuse on rivers,mountains and the ancient world,highlighting the characteristics of these three scenes,which are vast,lofty and simple.The conclusion summarizes the main points and the deficiencies in the writing.In general,the rich meaning of The Chinese character "Hong" is an important basis for the formation of the semantic meaning of "Hong",and the unique aesthetic context of Complete Tang Poems provides another space for the investigation of the formation of "Hong".The semantic analysis based on the definition of the lexicon objectively presents the internal connection and semantic category characteristics of the semantic system,while the rhetorical interpretation based on the dynamic context makes us see the various rhetorical information of the formation of "Hong" in [+bird]/[-bird].The former is an important image of expression,with tragic,vigorous,detached,or beautiful style characteristics;The latter provides a window for people to explore the state of mind of the literati in the Tang Dynasty and the different features of the society at that time.
