| Zhao Zhiqian was an accomplished artist in poetry, calligraphy, painting and printing. He was a pioneer of the "Shanghai School" in painting, and created the artistic characteristics of the Shanghai School’s richly colored and elegant paintings of flowers and birds. For Zhao Zhiqian freehand flower and bird painting color formation, the author believes that can be divided into two factors.First,he learned traditional colors, mainly from Yun Shouping of Changzhou Painting School and other boneless flowers and birds, and Eight strange Li Shan of Yangzhou and other brushwork ink paintings. In the early study of the traditional color process, from Yun Shouping "easy" in the pursuit of understanding "clumsy" interest.Through Li Shan’s brushwork,he comprehended the blending of water and color and the intermingling of color and ink in his large freehand flower-and-bird painting, which gradually transformed from "drawing" to the realm of "writing" with free indulgence.Secondly, based on the unique social and historical background at that time,Zhao Zhiqian was shocked by a large number of new materials about Wei steles and Zhong ding cultural relics when he was living in Beijing, and his research on touchstone obtained a rich and sufficient material basis. At that time, the concept of "subsidizing the stone tablet" in the calligraphy circle provided spiritual support for his thought of entering the stone Wei tablet into the painting.Due to the rise of the social commodity economy model, the calligraphy and painting trade has gradually become civilian, and the social aesthetic trend has changed from the "elegant" of the traditional literati to the "vulgar" of the commercial society. To promote Zhao Zhiqian’s color to form a red and green folk color aesthetic style, painting color and content began to be vulgarized. |
