In recent years, with the change of concepts, documentary filmmakers have set their sights on women, creating a series of vivid female images, and influencing the audience’s views on women through communication. This paper regards the filming of social reality documentary as a field of gender dialogue, selects the female image of social reality documentary filmed by male directors as the research object, and relies on gender research theory to carry out research in the order of female image presentation, power factors behind the image, and reflection on female image. The study finds that the female image in social reality documentaries can be divided into three levels: alienation and lack of female consciousness, female consciousness obscuration and suppression, and female consciousness manifestation and breakthrough, which is related to the development degree of real women’s selfconsciousness and is also influenced by male directors. On this basis, taking women’s consciousness as the benchmark, the power factors behind male directors’ shaping of women’s images are discussed, and it is believed that male directors complete the "otherness" of women by projecting their own identity and the representation of social topics, such women are "absent from the present",and only women who are shaped based on the attitude of paying attention to women and affirming women can become self-representations,and this ideal gender relationship requires the director to consciously break through the power gaze and use interviews and friends to move towards the identity gaze.Through the exchange meeting, the subject and the audience form interactions, and convey the gender concept of gender harmony at the social level. |
