| With the development of the Internet,increasing number of "we media" has been translating and then posting international soft news to the public.Under the background of globalization,more internet users are curious about western countries’ news of their society,life,entertainment,health and environment.More excellent translators who have great news literacy are needed to work for the we media talked above.A great we media translator are supposed to be familiar with the difference of structure and elements between domestic and abroad news reports,as well as the reading habits and interests of domestic viewers.Therefore,we-media international news compilers need to deeply analyze and think about such news texts,and find the translation problems encountered and strive to solve them.This thesis is based on a case study regarding the application of trans-editing in the English-Chinese translation of Tiger Class’ s international soft news posted.In this study,the author analyses features of these news project posted and addresses three types of problems encountered during the translation process,namely lengthy or information-loss headlines,tedious leads with inappropriately arranged news elements,and body components characterized by repetition and redundancy.Through case analyses,the author proposes the following strategy: i)properly omit or rewrite headlines,ii)omit unimportant elements in leads or restructure them and iii)neatly arrange body parts in an inverted pyramid pattern.Hopefully,this study will help improve the English-Chinese translation of international soft news posted by we media and give fresh insight into the application of trans-editing in this type of translation. |
