| Bai Yinqian(1605-1673)was a poet and Neo-Confucianist of Shanxi origin in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He lived through the Chongzhen,Shunzhi and Kangxi dynasties. As a generation of Neo-Confucianist and literary scholars, there are still gaps in the study of him.The Dong Gu Ji is Bai Yinqian’s masterpiece, which was written between 1627 and 1661,encompassing the entire period of Bai Yinqian’s official career.Bai Yinqian’s life pursued an official career, but in his middle age,he went through the changes of the Ming and Qing dynasties."As Ouyang Xiu said, writing about human relationships is difficult to say,but the poorer you are,the better you are".Written in the official career,The Dong Gu Ji is a portrayal of Bai Yinqian’s difficult political career, but also I think is the most valuable part of his life. Therefore,I took the study of Bai Yinqian’s poetry of Dong Gu Ji as the topic of my dissertation. The first chapter analyzes Bai Yinqian family environment and life historical background.Bai Yinqian was born in a family of gentry, the excellent economic conditions ensured that he received a good education, and also laid the foundation for later creation of poetry. The family style of the gentry in pursuit of fame and fortune influenced the political pursuit of Bai Yinqian in the first half of his life. Then I elaborate Bai Yinqian’s personal life and literary contacts.Bai Yinqian’s life can be divided into three periods, before the death of the Ming Dynasty, after serving in the Qing Dynasty and resign himself to return home. Before the death of the Ming Dynasty,Bai Yinqian has always tried to get a scholar. In the 16 th year of Chongzhen reign,he obtained the title of Jinshi, but in the same year he suffered the destruction of the Ming dynasty. After the inner confusion and struggle of wavering,Bai Yinqian chose to serve in the Qing court, this choice made him a lifetime of political stigma and moral guilt of the turncoat official,so poetry has become a reflection of his hidden will.In the second year of Kangxi reign,Bai Yinqian contracted a slight illness,so he resigned from the government to return home.Influenced by family studies and destiny,Bai Yinqian interacted much with Buddhist,to explore the Buddhist doctrine became his main way to escape the political whirlpool.Bai Yinqian interacted mainly Buddhist monks and mortal layman. The second chapter elaborates the important contents of the poetry of the Dong Gu Ji.Firstly, according to Bai Yinqian’s life experience, the poetry of the Dong Gu Ji can be divided into two periods, namely before the death of Ming and after the Qing Dynasty.I compare the transformation of Bai Yinqian’s poetic style and thus explore his psychological transformation. As in Bai Yinqian‘s most life,he pursued his offical career, and the important writing period of his poetry was in his official period,so his poetry of this period can be divided into nostalgia for the homeland, concern for people’s livelihood, praise of current politics, and rewards for sending friends based on the theme.I will conduct a specific analysis of the representatives of each type of theme. The last chapter summarizes Bai Yinqian’s poetics and the artistic characteristics of the Dong Gu Ji..Bai Yinqian held a realistic poetics, his poetry revolved around his life, there are few romantic works with exaggerated imagination and passion, which is related to his ideology, and also is the result of the influence of family culture. This paper analyzes the artistic characteristics of the Dong Gu Ji.in terms of poetic style, poetic style, expressive techniques, rhetorical devices and linguistic art. |
