As a theoretical object of Marx, capital power should not be simply understood as the combination of two essentially separate concepts,"capital" and "power",but should be understood from their identity, that is,capital is understood as power at the same time.Capital power is a form of power that capital manifests through material intermediaries. However, capital power cannot be confused with capital after all,as a special form of power subordinate to general power,it has unique characteristics such as alienation, concealment, expansion, and totality, which enable capital power to carry out hidden and rapid power expansion in capital society, and eventually grow into the overall power that dominates everything in modern society. This process can be regarded as the acquisition of other secondary powers by capital power based on its original power, which is manifested in the expansion of economic power to the superstructure fields such as politics, culture and spirituality from a macro perspective, and the influence, control and domination of political power, cultural power and other forms of power. In the microscopic perspective, capital power mainly refers to power in the economic field, where the primary form of capital power is the right to control surplus labor, and the secondary form is the right to control labor and its products. In addition to "solving the evils" of capital power,Marx also discussed the rationale of transcending capital power as a way to "eliminate evils",pointing out that there is an irreconcilable contradiction between the general social power formed by capital and the private power that individual capitalists have over these social production conditions, which will inevitably lead to the disintegration of this relationship. This contradiction is essentially a reflection of the basic contradictions of capitalism in the relations of power,so the fundamental transcendence of the power of capital must also completely transcend the capitalist mode of production.Marx called the fundamental transcendence of the power of capital communism, which denotes both a social formation that dissolves the power of capital and a movement with human liberation as its ultimate goal.Of course, gradual, transitional stages and work are needed before communism can be realized. With the development of the times, the relevant manifestations and operating mechanisms of capital power have undergone corresponding changes, and Marx himself can no longer express his views on this, but his idea of capital power as an insurmountable ideological resource still provides us with important guidance for understanding and dealing with modern capital power, not only is not outdated, but exudes a timeless charm. |
