The Influence Of Future Self-Continuity On Moral Decision Making In Different Situations:The Mediating Moral Sensitivity Role Of Moral Sensitivity

People will face many choices in their lives.These choices include not only the trivial matters in life,but also our values and beliefs.Moral decision-making is one of the important choices involving individual values.However,with the continuous development of society and technology,traditional moral concepts have been difficult to adapt to the needs of reality in some cases,and need to be revised and updated in time.In addition,even if it is the same moral issue,different people may have different opinions.different workarounds.At this time,understanding the behavior of others in different situations can promote understanding and respect between people,reduce conflicts and misunderstandings between individuals,and understand the moral behavior of others can help us explore moral issues in more depth.And form more comprehensive and accurate judgment and evaluation standards,and then guide their own moral behavior.Finally,studying the moral decision-making of others can also help to better understand and deal with the complex and changeable moral challenges in social reality.contribute to development and progress.In this study,questionnaires were distributed using the insula psychology research platform,and a total of 497 valid questionnaires were collected,including half of college students and working people.Future self-continuity questionnaires,tendentious moral sensitivity questionnaires,and moral decision-making questionnaires in different situations were used.Use SPSS27.0,AMOS24.0 and PROCESS macro program to process the data.The results showed that:(1)Individual moral sensitivity differed significantly in gender,hometown,age,education level,and years of work experience,and individual future self-continuity also differed significantly in hometown,age,education level,and years of work experience;(2)Correlation analysis found that there was a significant positive correlation between future self-continuity and moral sensitivity,and there was a significant negative correlation between the two and the frequency of moral decision-making actions;(3)Future self-continuity not only directly negatively predicted the frequency of actions in different moral situations but also influenced moral decisionmaking through the mediating role of moral sensitivity.To sum up,this study concludes that when an individual faces a moral dilemma decision-making,the higher the continuity of the future self and the higher the moral sensitivity,the more able to perceive the factors that hurt others in the dilemma and choose not to take action.Both continuity and moral sensitivity can negatively predict the number of actions in different moral dilemmas,which is somewhat different from the traditional cognition,and moral sensitivity is also an important mediator to explain the impact of future selfcontinuity on actions in dilemmas.The research results help to further understand the moral situation and the behavior of individuals in the situation,and provide empirical evidence for the study of moral norms.
