In recent years,the prevalence rate of autism spectrum disorders(ASD)has shown a year-on-year increase,currently higher than 1%,ranking first in childhood psychiatric disorders in China.ASD is characterized by suffering from interpersonal communication barriers,commonly shown as persistent deficits in interpersonal communication and interaction,as well as restricted interests at the same time,and partly accompanied with language delay.Therefore,effective reduction on the interpersonal communication barriers of children with autism spectrum disorders constitutes a crucial foundation to enable children to enter society and eventually be accepted by society in good faith.Meanwhile,each child with autism spectrum disorder in support of a family.Focus should thus be put on both children and their family.This study has taken 217 children(4-8 pairs of children with autism spectrum disorder and their families)as research objects,children’s interpersonal communication competence level and the differences was identified through scale measurements;the correlation between the social support for children’s families and children’s interpersonal communication competence was analyzed to construct an intervention curriculum system for improving children’s interpersonal communication competence;further exploration on children interpersonal communication competence was made to interview 5 family members of children with autism and 7 teachers of special schools.The intervention research has taken 5 children with autism spectrum disorder and 1family of children with autism spectrum disorder to find effective approach to improving the interpersonal communication competence of children with autism through sandplay therapy.SPSS 23.0 software was adopted to conduct difference tests,correlation analysis,and regression analysis on the collected questionnaire and scale measurements,and NVivo 12 was applied in level-on-level coding on the collected interview data.The results are as followed.(1)Generally,children with autism spectrum disorders showed ordinary interpersonal communication competence,with the most severe impairment in social perception,while no significant differences in gender and whether or not they were attending school.(2)The families of children with autism spectrum disorders received ordinary social support,which showed positive correlation with the children’s interpersonal communication competence.(3)The interpersonal communication competence of children with autism spectrum disorders varied with individual factors,including the individual ability to recognize,enunciate,and logically comprehend,as well as family influence,including family support situation,duration of Parent–Child relationship and family economic situation.Better situation of social support,intact family structure and function,as well as harmonious relationship among family members cultivated positive emotions and preferable interpersonal communication competence.(4)Sandplay therapy achieved the effective improvement in the interpersonal communication competence of children with autism spectrum disorders. |
