| This report is based on the translation practice of War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning.The first to third chapters are selected for translation practice.Translation problems during the translation process are solved by adopting different translation strategies.The report is based on these translation problems and strategies summarized after the translation practice.The book is a political text,with a lot of historical and literary information.Therefore,in order to ensure that the translated information is correct,accurate and complete,a large amount of information needs to be consulted,and the number of words should be used to reproduce the author’s writing style.Because the original text contains a lot of cultural information and some of it is self-evident in source language which the author omitted when writing,so a cultural phenomenon has occurred in this process.The translation methods of amplification,liberal translation,and footnote are used.Finally,concluding methods can be used for different types of cultural default in political text.Through this translation practice,the translator himself has improved his translation abilities and problem-solving abilities.His understanding of cultural defaults has been deepened.We shall concentrate on the strategies and methods while translating political text and handling cultural default.And this report aims to provide a reference example for later translators of similar text and similar text type. |
