A Study Of Li Ya’s "Yan Xing Ji Shi"

The Joseon dynasty spanned the Ming and Qing dynasties,and as an important vassal state under the China-centered feudal system,the political core of the Joseon dynasty was always "serve the great country",respecting the Ming and Qing dynasties as Sovereign State,and sending frequent emissaries between China and the Joseon dynasty,the records of these emissaries are collectively known as "Yan Xing Lu".The "Yan Xing Lu" often contains detailed records of the social conditions,city scenery,religious customs,and cultural exchanges in China at that time,so the "Yan Xing Lu" is a "foreign Chinese historical records" with important academic value.The most flourishing period of "Yan Xing Lu" was from the mid-eighteenth century to the mid-nineteenth century,when "Yan Xing Lu" was able to objectively observe all aspects of Qing Dynasty society." Yan Xing Ji Shi" studied in this paper is also one of the best "Yan Xing Lu" of this period.The introductory part of the thesis focuses on the background and significance of the topic,relevant research developments,research methods and innovations.The first chapter introduces the biography of Li Ya,the social background of the two countries at that time,and style of literature of the "Yan Xing Ji Shi" and the situation of the mission.The second chapter is a discussion of the city section of "Yan Xing Ji Shi",which focuses on the city scenery and social scenes that Li Ya saw along the way.The third chapter is a discussion of the political,religious,and folk culture sections of "Yan Xing Ji Shi",which analyzes the political system,religious beliefs,and social customs of the Qing dynasty that Li Ya saw during his journey to China,reflecting the different perceptions of the Qing dynasty brought to the Joseon envoys at that time.The fourth chapter summarizes the characteristics of the "Yan Xing Ji Shi",mainly in three aspects: objective and detailed,respecting and missing Ming dynasty,and facing reality.The book contains a large amount of information on history,folklore,and geography,which is a valuable source to be further explored.By summarizing the contents of Li Ya’s Records of "Yan Xing Ji Shi",the article analyzes its characteristics and affirms its special value as an important "foreign Chinese historical records".
