A Study Of Harmony In Tchaikovsky’s Artistic Songs

During his career in music creation,Tchaikovsky wrote a total of 103 artistic songs.These songs have various styles and rich themes,with beautiful lyrical vocal melodies,mournful halftone harmony,and national and folk style mode techniques,which have an important position in Tchaikovsky’s music creation.This article takes Tchaikovsky’s artistic songs as the research object,analyzes and explores the characteristics of Tchaikovsky’s harmonic techniques and the formation of his harmonic style.The first chapter is an analysis of pitch materials,harmonic progression,and modulation techniques based on traditional functional and acoustic theories.The second chapter is based on Schoenberg’s theory of harmony acoustics,analyzing the structural functions of harmony,respectively from the root progression and tonality fields.The third chapter further explores the harmony style in Tchaikovsky’s artistic songs through a comparative analysis of songs with the same lyrics as other composers and the evolution of the harmony style in the early,middle,and late periods.
