Study On American Jewish Organization: B’nai B’rith(1843-1948)

This thesis mainly examines B’nai B’rith,a Jewish organization born in New York City in 1843.It is the oldest and largest Jewish service organization in the world,and has branches in many countries in the world.From the beginning of its establishment,B’nai B’rith has taken leading and uniting Jews as its purpose and mission,and actively contributed to the development of the Jewish cause.The purpose of this paper is to sort out the development process of B’nai B’rith,focus on the main activities of B’nai B’rith,and analyze its influence on the world’s Jews and American politics through its main activities.Based on the above considerations,this paper intends to make the following arrangements in terms of chapters:The introduction mainly elaborates the research background and significance of the organization of B’nai B’rith,combs the current situation of domestic and foreign scholars’ research on the organization,and summarizes the research methods and innovation points of this article.The first chapter mainly introduces the establishment and development of B’nai B’rith.First,it points out the background of the establishment of B’nai B’rith organization by American Jews under difficult circumstances,as well as the purpose and mission of B’nai B’rith organization to unite and serve Jews.Secondly,this chapter also involves the narration of the development and expansion of B’nai B’rith through the establishment of subsidiary institutions and branch organizations,so as to understand the growth process of the whole organization from a small perspective.The second chapter mainly describes various activities of B’nai B’rith.First of all,B’nai B’rith,with its headquarters in the United States as the center,has effectively guaranteed the rights of Jews around the world through measures such as combating anti-Semitic thoughts around the world,implementing humanitarian assistance,and defending Jewish sovereignty in Palestine.Secondly,B’nai B’rith has paid close attention to the living conditions of the Jewish elderly and children,and launched various educational and vocational training activities to help and serve the Jewish community.Finally,B’nai B’rith has also actively participated in international affairs,such as participating in United Nations affairs,participating in international relief activities and supporting the establishment of Israel.The third chapter mainly discusses the influence of B’nai B’rith from two aspects.First,the existence of the organization has to some extent united Jews around the world,improved their living conditions and,in a sense,strengthened the identity of Jews in the United States and even the world.Secondly,the organization has made efforts to negotiate with the United States government,which has influenced the Jewish immigration policy of the United States and also improved the political status of American Jews.Through the study of the history of B’nai B’rith from its establishment in the United States in 1843 to the founding of Israel in 1948,we can find that B’nai B’rith,as a worldwide Jewish organization,has an indelible impact on improving the lives of Jews in the United States and the world and promoting the development of Jewish public welfare.After the Second World War,it actively contacted the Zionists and other Jewish organizations,and made significant contributions to the establishment of Israel through fund-raising and political struggle.
