The Notion Of Faith In Existential Aesthetics Through Kierkegaard

In Kerkkegaard’s work,“being” is a central concept.It is from the perspective of“existence” that Kierkegaard established his own concept of “existence aesthetics”,and his “existence” has strong subjectivity and individuality.The core goal of this paper is to explore the connotation of “faith” in the dynamic construction process of Kierkegaard’s “aesthetics of existence”.In Kierkegaard’s “aesthetics of existence”,“faith” is a critical clue that provides a profound and powerful explanation of Kierkegaard’s writing motivation,method and style.For Kierkegaard,his construction of “faith” is largely derived from his relationship with his father and lover,through which he established his “existence”.The names of these two people are constantly appearing in his works,and we can also see them in most of their works.His image of father gave Kierkegaard the vision of the “heavenly Father”,while the lover allowed him to discover the “aesthetics” to overcome,which he saw as an obstacle to the path of faith.Kierkegaard also saw his mission of “faith” in Socrates.The foundation of his aesthetic thought of existence came from Socrates,and took shape by establishing his own “Socratic mission”,so that his “aesthetics of existence” has rich connotation of belief.At the same time,he also used “Socrates irony” to criticize “romantic irony”,established the limits of“irony”,and defined “faith” as its boundary for “existence”.Kierkegaard’s “existence” is a subjective passion,and he established the core concept of “the man of the individual”.In Kierkegaard’s opinion,the premise of becoming an “individual” is to have the “belief” to “live and die for”,and only in this way can one truly become a person.He founded the famous theory of “three stages of existence”:aesthetic realm,ethical realm and belief realm,and these three stages are also Kierkegaard’s path of strggle.According to him,he is a man who has long been in an "aesthetic state",but he realized that he needed to experience the “despair” and“absurdity” of the “leap of belief”.Kierkegaard obtained the theoretical resources of realm of faith in story of Abraham,and undertook the tradition of “despair” and the tradition of Christian belief,and put forward the proposition of the “leap of faith”.
