Manon is an opera adapted by French composer Massenet from Father Plevo’s novel Manon Leiskow. This work has been staged 763 times, and it has been staged for 1,700 times after 60 years in Komuk Theatre. This record is really amazing.Massenet is good at describing nuanced tenderness and women’s delicate and gentle character with elegant and lyrical music. The operas are mostly centered on women and love, and the music is delicate and gentle with a little sadness.Massenet is good at depicting women’s rich inner world with beautiful melodies, which is profound and delicate,so people give him the reputation of "a poet who has insight into women’s hearts".This paper takes Manon, the heroine in Massenet’s opera Manon,as the research object,,discusses the origin of Manon’s musical image, and analyzes the role of Manon into three different personality characteristics: innocent Manon, vain Manon and tragic Manon, and analyzes the three aria with different personality characteristics from three angles: lines, music and singing,in order to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of Manon’s musical image. In order to interpret Manon’s aria more accurately, the author makes a comparative study of the singing versions of Anna Rebecca and Lisette Oropesa, and draws lessons from their singing and performance,so as to better shape Manon’s dramatic characters.
