A Report On On-site Interpreting For The Electric And Pneumatic Automatization System Installation At Guangzhou Chime-long Paradise

The Belt and Road Initiative has been significantly forged ahead as countries and regions along the route proactively coordinated efforts of pursuing green and high efficiency and high-quality economic growth over recent years,and chief among them is green and low carbon economy.In this connection,Guangzhou Chime-Long Paradise of Guangdong Province in southeast China proposed to make expansion of its existing amusement facilities within its park from July 19^th,2022.During its construction,top priority has been given to applying green and environmental protection material,and low power consumption is thus strongly called for,in all an attempt to press ahead with its local tertiary industries.Trusted and recommended by the supervisor,the author received the appointment from Guangzhou Chime-Long Paradise Co.,Ltd to serve as the on-site interpreter to assist the electric and pneumatic automatization system installation within the amusement park.Based on the liaison interpreting,the author conducted this report aiming to pinpoint and analyze major difficulties and propose corresponding coping strategies and reflections accordingly.This report comprises five chapters.Chapter One illustrates the interpreting project description,including project background,objectives and significance.Chapter Two provides the description of the whole interpreting process,including pre-interpreting preparations,during the interpreting,post-interpreting reflection and feedbacks from customers.Chapter Three introduces the Schema Theory,and analyzes how this interpreting practice is operated and guided under the theory.Chapter Four is about major interpreting obstacles and methods.Neologism in engineering project,different preferences on terminologies expression in engineering,abstract nature in engineering,and improvisatory features of on-site interpreting are major difficult ones,the abstract nature in engineering is the most challenged one in particular.To this end,methods include:the language schema theory,the formal schema theory,and the content schema theory are applied to the resolution of these major challenges mentioned above respectively.Chapter Five concludes with the lessons,implications and unsolved problems.As such,the author would like to offer reference of practical engineering interpreting operation to other fellow interpreters despite the fact that the report has its limitations.
