In recent years, mixed reality(MR)technology has evolved, enabling complex representation of architectural cultural heritage in time and space, offering a new way to perceive its historical context. As an emerging narrative medium,MR has unique spatial perception and situational expression capabilities, making it advantageous over traditional media in spatial narrative expression. However, existing MR-related preservation projects often focus on restoration and reconstruction, neglecting presentation of humanistic context and historical value. This paper applies spatial narrative methods to MR systems for architectural cultural heritage, integrating spatial narrative theory and proposing application strategies to enrich preservation approaches, continue historical and cultural context, expand digital preservation scope, and enhance inclusiveness and foresight. The paper analyzes narrative space,non-material elements, and presentation forms of architectural cultural heritage, and proposes translation needs in spatial narrative perspective. It explores spatial narrative features of MR technology in heritage preservation and summarizes characteristics of virtual-real integration, diverse visual information, and situational interaction.Based on this,it elaborates on spatiotemporal juxtaposition, coupling, nonlinear narrative structures, and scene metaphor narrative structures in MR architectural cultural heritage spatial narratives. Finally, the paper summarizes spatial narrative strategies for architectural cultural heritage, covering refinement, translation, interaction, and dissemination, aiming to promote effective interpretation, presentation, and communication of historical and cultural context while addressing current issues in MR-based preservation systems, such as monotonous presentation, lack of engaging expression, and insufficient interactivity.
