As a witness to and participant in the ancient literature movement of the Northern Song Dynasty, how the Su Men Bachelor created his essays is a question that deserves to be investigated in depth.Although Qin Guan,as a member of the Su Men,was known as a lyricist,he himself attached great importance to and devoted himself to the creation of essays, which is intuitively reflected in the fact that his essays have been praised since the Song Dynasty and have been included in various anthologies for a number of times.Since there is no systematic and in-depth research in this field, this paper takes Qin Guan’s essays as the object of study, utilizes bibliography, literature and art, textual analysis and other methods, and combines the background of the times and life experiences to focus on the selection of his essays, the theoretical concept of essayism, the specific mastery of the practice of essay writing, and the literary value of his essays, and other issues. This paper will be divided into four chapters to explore these issues.Bibliography is the foundation of literary research. The first chapter starts from the perspective of literature, first briefly describes the circulation of the editions of Huaihai ji through the ages, analyzes the differences between the editions, then combs through the classification of literary genres of Huaihai ji,counts the number of articles in each genre, and finally counts the selections of Qin Guan’s articles in the successive anthologies and explains the reasons for the decrease in the selections of his essays after the Song dynasty.Qin Guan’s writings are an important window to his thought, and the formation of his thought system is closely related to the background of his time and life experience. The second chapter discusses the specific manifestations of his worldly and Buddhist thoughts in his essays, and then explores his essayistic thoughts and refines his literary concepts. In his practice of writing,Qin Guan mainly draws on the Six Classics of the pre-Qin Dynasty, the prose of the Western Han Dynasty, the ancient writings of Han Yu,and the writings of Su Shi,of which Su Shi’s influence is the most important.Chapter 3 first explores the specific ways in which Qin Guan’s writings were based on those of his predecessors, and then focuses on Su Shi’s profound influence on Qin Guan’s writings by taking his treatises, fugues, and speeches as examples. The literary value of Qin Guan’s essays is an important issue in the study of Qin Guan’s writings. The fourth chapter firstly analyzes Qin Guan’s treatise, secret cabinet test, book, brief, enlightenment and other masterpieces of literary styles, summarizes Qin Guan’s achievements and shortcomings in the creation of all kinds of literary styles, and makes an objective evaluation of his articles, and at the same time,on the basis of comparing Qin Guan’s lyrics and his articles in different periods, explains the reason for the phenomenon of "words are more important than literature" in his works in the literary history. On the basis of comparing Qin Guan’s lyrics and essays in different periods,he explains the reasons for the phenomenon of "lyrics are better than essays" in the history of literature.
