Research On Narrative Ethics In Edward Yang’s Films

Narrative ethics is an important concept in the field of literature research and an important aspect of ethics research.It aims to explore how narrative can serve an effective ethical purpose,that is,to satisfy the moral ideals of the public through appropriate plots and characterization.Edward Yang’s films have a huge and complex narrative structure,but they are clear and philosophical.The success of his films is mainly attributed to the prominence of ethical narrative.Domestic and foreign scholars have carried out multiangle research on Edward Yang’s films and obtained some achievements,but at present there is no complete and exact evaluation of Edward Yang’s films,nor in-depth and detailed study of narrative ethics.This paper starts from the ethical dimension of Edward Yang’s films,combines with the lack of ethics in film and television works in the new era,studies the application of film narrative ethics in Edward Yang’s films as a starting point,interprets the ethical significance of the corresponding plots in Edward Yang’s films from the perspectives of national ethics,individual freedom ethics and feminist ethics,and holds the narrative ethics in them.The first part explains narrative ethics and its related concepts,and discusses the application of narrative ethics in films,especially in Edward Yang’s films.The second part explains the patriarchal culture,national consciousness and national ethics.Taking "Taipei experience" and "China" as an example,it discusses national ethics and the cultural background of Confucianism in Edward Yang’s films.The third part analyzes the alienation phenomenon in Taiwan society from the perspective of individual freedom ethics after explaining the relationship between modernity ethics and individual freedom ethics.The fourth part uses the feminist ethical thought,from the aspects of love,marriage and family,social activities,to show the awakening process of women in Edward Yang’s films and its ethical effects.Film and television works need to have the function of shaping morality,guiding morality and regulating morality,so as to give full play to their due social value.Taking Edward Yang’s films as an example,this paper elucidates the unique ethical narratives and emphasizes the important role of his films in shaping ethical thoughts and pursuing moral goals.Film and television works play a vital role in transmitting positive energy and building social values.Practitioners should shoulder more responsibilities for the creation and dissemination of film and television works in order to achieve higher artistic achievements and social benefits.Edward Yang’s films can be regarded as examples.Edward Yang’s films have strong moral significance,which can help people establish the correct value orientation,respect the status of women in society,lead the social moral fashion,and maintain social justice and harmony.
