The Research Of Influence Of Awe On Cultural Exclusive Reaction

The rapidly development of economic globalization has promoted the close contact between global cultures,and the phenomenon of cultural mixing has become more and more common.Cultural mixing means that the representative symbols of different cultures coexist simultaneously in the same space.To some extent,culture mixing can provide new ideas for product design and product manufacturing and promote the innovation and progress of product development;However,more importantly,if people think that foreign culture will pollute the purity of local culture and produce attitude and behavioral rejection to foreign culture,then culture mixing will cause violence and conflict between cross-cultural.Studies have shown that the spatial separation of the two cultural symbols when presented at the same time,the low recognition of internal group culture,and the safe attachment to maternal culture will reduce people’s attention to cultural pollution,thus reducing the rejection of individuals to the phenomenon of cultural mixing.In addition,the influence of emotion on cultural mixing and match has also attracted the attention of scholars.Reviewing previous studies found that responses to cultural mixing may be mediated by partial individual positive emotions.As a positive emotion,awe can reduce people’s over-reliance on existing cognitive patterns and increase people’s desire to understand others and accept different views.In addition,awe can promote individual’s understanding of different cultural world views,thus reducing the derogatory and rejection of members of different cultural groups.Therefore,this study explores whether awe can also reduce individual rejection responses to the phenomenon of cultural mixing.Three experiments were designed in this study.In Experiment 1,the subjects were assigned to the awe initiation group and the neutral control group.The subjects in the awe initiation group initiated the awe emotional experience by recalling the writing method,the neutral control group recalled the eating scene of the ordinary day,and then all the subjects were asked to complete the evaluation of the cultural mixing products.It was found that participants in the awe initiation group had higher scores than those in the neutral control group.Experiment 2 added a baseline measure of evaluation of cultural mixing products and changed the startup method of awe.The results found that the difference between the difference in the group was larger than that in the neutral control group.In Experiment 3,a pleasant initiation group was added as a control to initiate the corresponding emotional experience by having the subjects watch videos related to awe and pleasure.The results found that compared with the subjects in the pleasant initiation group,the highest score in the neutral control group received the lowest score.The results of this study show that awe can reduce individual rejection responses to cultural mixing phenomena.
