China’s historical agrarian civilization has laid a solid foundation for the development of Chinese society,and the countryside is also the cradle of Chinese civilization.It is the central value of vernacular documentaries to make the public understand and value rural society objectively and comprehensively,not to forget rural culture and to regain rural values.Whether presenting the original rural life or focusing the content on the conflict between tradition and modernity,through objective records,symbolic representations,or contradictory settings,they all aim to portray a more threedimensional image of the countryside.As a witness to the process of urban-rural integration in China,vernacular-themed documentaries take objective truth as the core,telling the real-life events happening in rural society,recreating the natural scenery,humanistic customs and historical traditions of the countryside,and also reflecting the changes in the image of the countryside and reflecting on the fate of individual farmers in the context of rural revitalization.The thesis takes the documentary film on vernacular themes since the new century as the research object,and discusses the following four aspects: the overview of vernacular theme documentaries,the portrayal of rural image in documentaries,the construction of rural image in the film,and the analysis of the construction of rural image in the personal work "Benxiang Local",which analyzes the construction of rural image in China’s vernacular theme documentaries since the new century.Firstly,in the introduction,we briefly introduce the background,significance,purpose,methodology and research review of the thesis and the current situation of video creation,so as to organize a clear lineage for the thesis research.The first chapter is mainly an overview of vernacular-themed documentaries,a description of the concept definition and characteristics of vernacular-themed documentaries,and a sorting out of the theoretical tools of the thesis research.The second chapter describes the portrayal of rural images in vernacular documentaries,and discusses three aspects of vernacular documentaries: "image of home","image of character" and "image of culture".In-depth discussion.Among them,the "image of home" shows the transformation of the countryside from the primitive and harmonious landscape of poverty to the magnificent landscape of beauty and wealth,and then to the revitalization of the countryside and the ecological beauty of the countryside,through the primitive and depressed villages,the beautiful and quiet rural scenery and the modern well-off."Character Image" shows the characteristics and characters of rural characters in three aspects: loneliness and helplessness of those in the countryside,helplessness and wandering of those who have left the countryside,and the return of those who have returned to the countryside and pursued their dreams.The "cultural images" show the continuity and development of the local culture from the longstanding clan culture,the all-embracing folk culture and the colorful regional culture.The third chapter focuses on the construction of rural images in vernacular documentaries,with emphasis on the in-depth excavation of symbolic representation and image rhetoric,the elaboration of presentation means,and the powerful expression of inner spirituality in vernacular documentaries.Among them,the symbolic representation selects ecological symbols,character symbols and life symbols.The ecology mainly shows the scenes of production and life in rural areas,depicting the beautiful picture of Chinese countryside with images.As an important element of the documentary film on the countryside,the character symbols can be used to feel the development and changes of the countryside and the survival status of farmers.Life symbols are some symbols of localization,primitive production tools and traditional living areas record the simplicity and peace of rural life.Image rhetoric is the artistic expression of audio-visual language such as camera,picture,color,music and sound to deeply explore and elaborate the image of the countryside.Spirituality is to convey the humanistic connotation of the countryside documentary through the rural aesthetic style and traditional cultural spirit of the new era.The fourth chapter is an analysis of the construction of the rural image in the personal work "The Native Country",which discusses the background of the selected topic,analyzes the portrayal of the rural image in the film,shares the problems and gains encountered during the creation of the work,and provides a reference for the creation of similar subjects. |
