Feng Mengzhen,a famous scholar of the late Ming Dynasty, was a Buddhist. He had made friends with many monks.Among the four monks of the late Ming Dynasty, the lotus pool, the purple cedar true God,and Hanshan Deqing were closely associated with them, and had an important impact on his faith in Buddhism.Lu Guangzu,Yu Chunxi and other reclusive elders were also her friends. They often exchanged experience in Buddhism. In addition,Feng Mengzhen also participated in the preparation of Buddhist scriptures, and often introduced his friends to Buddha. He also went around to contact with Buddha affairs and solve disputes between monks and customs, and made an important contribution to the development of Buddhism in the southeast of the late Ming Dynasty.Feng Mengzhen had accepted the thoughts of many sects of Buddhism, the most important ones were the rooftop, the Buddhist sect and the Pure Land Sect, and he also gave the imperial edict to cultivate both meditation and purity. The article was divided into six parts. The first part was the introduction, mainly introducing the meaning of the research, the current situation of the research at home and abroad and the research goal. The second part was about Feng Mengzhen’s life experience, friendship, and the activity of protecting laws he participated in;It introduced the philosophy of Wanming and analyzed the background of Feng Mengzhen’s Buddhism; This was the prelude of his Buddhist thoughts, especially the role of the Zhuang school in guiding him to learn Buddhism. The third part mainly analyzed Feng Mengzhen’s thoughts of the rooftop sect.Feng Mengzhen had been practicing the rooftop in his early years,so he had his own understanding of the three values of mind in the rooftop sect;At the same time,Feng Mengzhen practiced the repentance method on the rooftop, which could make him feel at ease and comfortable in his heart. He also had the thought of the strength equalizing theurgy, and was willing to do good things to pass through all living beings. The fourth part was to analyze Feng Mengzhen’s Buddhist thoughts. As for the Buddhist doctrine,Feng Mengzhen took the mind as his real body, and all methods were empty. He cultivated the mind as his real body, breaking away from the birth and death of his physical body and returning to his natural heart,so as to see through his own Buddhism; At the same time, with the Epiphany cultivation as the cultivation theory,he not only paid attention to the Epiphany, but also added the cultivation method of words and good knowledge to promote the cultivation of the Buddhist method. The fifth part was to analyze Feng Mengzhen’s pure land thought.Feng Mengzhen yearned for the blissful western world. He believed that it was not easy to cultivate in a pure land, and he needed a strong belief and determination. As for the discipline required by the pure land,it could not be perfect. For the practice of the pure land,he was more inclined to believe and understand, and for the practice of the pure land,he was a little lacking in the practice; At the same time,in the diary of the snow hall, there were many stories about karma, which reflected his thoughts of "persuading good people to quit bad".For this,he also recorded his own life in the way of "merit character",so that he could reflect on himself. In the end, like many of the elders of the late Ming Dynasty,Feng Mengzhen began to cultivate both meditation and peace. He preferred meditation and attributed it to peace. In the end,he yearned for a happy and pure land. The sixth part is the conclusion. In a word, through the study of Feng Mengzhen’s Buddhist thoughts, combined with relevant materials, this paper presented his Buddhist will, summarized the thoughts of all sects, and showed his real Buddhist practice and contribution, showing his plump and three-dimensional image as a late Ming Buddhist monk.
