Director Stanley Kubrick spent nearly 50 years to create 15 very different films.Although the number of his works was not considerable compared with the prolific directors,most of these works were regarded as classics.The artistic value created by them laid the irreplaceable position of Kubrick in the film history.Therefore,it is very necessary to make an all-round and multi-angle in-depth interpretation of Kubrick’s films.Postmodernism flourished in the 1960 s and 1970 s,and this theory had a profound impact on Kubrick’s film creation.Kubrick incorporated the features of postmodernism into his works and satirized the chaotic social environment after World War II with an attitude of examination and reflection.However,the first two films are experimental works entering the artistic creation of film and are mainly recorded,so this feature is not significant.Therefore,this paper takes the subsequent 13 feature films as the key research text,and discusses in detail the features of postmodernism in their films from the three aspects of theme,narrative and aesthetic style.Through interpretation and comment,this paper attempts to condense Kubrick’s postmodernist features in film creation and his unique film style formed under the support of this theory.First of all,the introduction part expounds the academic background and research value of this subject,and then reviews the research status of domestic and foreign academia on Kubrick,and takes the relevant research on Kubrick’s film post modernity as an important basis,summarizes and discusses the rationality and feasibility of this research,and finally puts forward the relevant research methods combined with the content to be discussed in this paper.The first chapter of the paper aims to explore the internal relationship between postmodernism and Kubrick.The main contents are as follows.First,by elaborating and listing the views of scholars representative of postmodernism,the concept of postmodernism theory needed in this paper is clarified.After that,the title of postmodernist films at home and abroad and the characteristics of such films are discussed,and the relevant concepts of postmodernist films are finally defined.Second,the author elaborated on Kubrick’s life and works.Third,combined with the concept of postmodernism summary Kubrick’s film features of postmodernism.In the following three chapters,Kubrick’s thirteen feature-length stories are discussed in detail from the three perspectives of theme,narrative and aesthetic style.Among them,the second chapter of the paper mainly demonstrates the theme of Kubrick’s films of multiple reflection,these themes generally show the characteristics of postmodernism,the film basically takes individual emotional experience as the entry point,involving many marginal topics.The third chapter of the paper analyzes the subversive narrative mode of classic Hollywood,and focuses on Kubrick’s innovative treatment of narrative structure,film time and space,and audience identity in the context of post-modernism with specific films as the analysis text.The fourth chapter of the thesis focuses on the analysis of the audio-visual language of the film,and discusses the individualized tragic aesthetic style of Kubrick’s film from the perspective of the lens and music.Although Kubrick’s films may seem ancient today,they are deeply relevant to the present...
