An Analysis Of Zhou Zhimian’s Flower-and-bird Painting And Its Inspiration To The Creation Of The Language Of Flowers

Zhou Zhimian was a flower and bird painter in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.His style was deeply influenced by the Song and Yuan paintings and the Ming economic development.In his artistic career,he inherited,refined and innovated to form the characteristic flower and bird painting art "hook flowers and point leaves" method,and carried forward,its own school.The particularity of his painting art reflects to some extent the appeal of the secular life to the literati spirit.It is worth exploring the artistic characteristics of Zhou Zhimian’s flower-and-bird paintings from different aspects.This article takes Zhou Zhimian’s flower-and-bird paintings as the clues,analyzes his artistic style through the characteristics of brush and ink,the presentation of color,composition and layout,and discusses how to apply it to the practical creation of flower-and-bird painting.It focuses on the application of the brush and ink,color and composition of Zhou Zhimian’s flower-and-bird painting in the graduation creation "Language of Flowers" with the theme of twelve Gods of Flowers,as well as the thinking and innovation in the creation.
