Rachmaninoff is a renowned Russian musician whose works cover a wide range of fields including piano,symphonic and romantic pieces.Op.21 is a delicate and sophisticated collection of 83 romantic pieces for voice.The 12 romances are the masterpieces of Rachmaninoff’s peak creation,and are regarded as "among the most poetic of Russian lyrical works",with high artistic value and unique artistic style.It has great artistic value and unique artistic style.In this paper,we analyze and study the musical ontology and singing of "Lilacs" and "Before the Icon" in Romance Op.21,starting from the background of composition,song ontology,singing treatment,etc,and combining with emotional grasp and stage practice application,we can master the singing skills of Romance more accurately and delicately,reasonably handle the singing emotion and performance style,and better convey the composer’s main idea on stage.It is also to provide some learning significance for exploring Rachmaninoff’s romantic songs in terms of singing,and to lay a good foundation for singing other vocal works of Rachmaninoff in the future.
