As the institutional convergence point between the country and the grassroots society, primary divisions has attracted the attention of successive governments.Although the township division of Jiangxi in the Ming Dynasty inherited the basic regulations of the previous generation, the actual settings of various prefectures and counties differed greatly. The reason for this is that the establishment of rural districts is severely restricted by the implementation of the new system and geographical factors. At the same time,in order to meet the continuous changes in the political and military situation within the territory,as well as the needs of economic development,it is imperative for some regions to adjust the township division. As an administrative act, primary divisions is necessary to adhere to the principles of tax collection, grassroots governance, and the "formation of convenient mountains and rivers".Through literature review and analysis,it is found that under the above principles, the adjustment of township division in Jiangxi Province in the Ming Dynasty was mainly divided into changes in affiliation, hierarchy, arrangement, and number. However, there were various situations depending on the region and era, which demonstrated the diversity and complexity of local administrative adjustment. The evolution and adjustment of rural regionalization is the combination of specific geographical environment and social policies. In the final analysis,on the one hand, the rulers’ purpose in doing all this is to strengthen control over the grass-roots level, maintain local stability, and at the same time, improve administrative efficiency and obtain more taxes and services. On the other hand, the adjustment of rural zoning also plays a role in alleviating local social conflicts, safeguarding the interests of local elites, and promoting local development to a certain extent.
